Two years ago, after the Bantam team's inaugural season, the coaches had players get together to play basketball, workout, and train. We then decided that this was a tool that could be a great promotion for the game of football in Prince Albert and area, both tackle and touch.
We designed TrainHARD to help educate and develop 10-14 year old participants into smarter football players or spectators of the game. With sessions that are designed to specifically teach positions in football, the participants rotate through drills for each position. We believe that it is important for all players to understand each position's role and responsibility on the field. By doing this, players understand that football is a true team sport. Each position has a job to do and if one person doesn't do their job, the team falters. Through this, players learn to respect each other on and off the field.
Each participant will take part in gym/simulation sessions that engage them in the game through drills and techniques. With the classroom sessions, the players will see visuals of what they learned in the gym, taking into account that not all learners are the same. Some learn better through visuals, some learn better through simulation. We engage them in both.
We are going to be honoured to have Special Guest Speakers that will promote the game in their own words, either reflecting on their experiences or explore the importance of football in Prince Albert for youth. We are lucky to have these individuals come and help our youth develop by being positive role models in the community.
TrainHARD participants should expect to sweat, to have fun, and to learn. We treat this as a learning experience, not a socializing experience. Students of the game will treat each other with respect, as well as their instructors. We reserve the right to excuse any participant from sessions due to attitude or behaviour.
We want this to be a positive experience for your child(ren). We want to let youth know that there is another option for them in Prince Albert, and that option can be football. With TrainHARD, we are nudging them in that direction. Whether or not they play Minor Football will be their decision, but we do hope that after TrainHARD, they seriously consider it, whether it is touch football or tackle.
Let's have some fun and play some football, the best team sport!
